Edison, N.J. December 2012 – Teseq Corporation., a number one developer and provider of instrumentation and systems for EMC emission and immunity testing, has developed a new CDN (coupling/decoupling network) for surge testing on unshielded shaped high-speed telecommunication lines including Ethernet. The CDN HSS-2 allows convenient surge testing with 1.2/50 s pulses on active telecom lines.
Well suited for use within labs, Teseq’s CDN HSS-2 is compliant with IEC 61000-4-5 and works with all industry standard surge machines. You can use it for surge testing on lines with as many as 8-wire unshielded twisted pair (UTP), with integrated service digital systems (ISDN) in addition to with 10/100 BaseT and 1000 BaseT.
Teseq’s CDN HSS-2 is compact, relatively lightweight and simple-to-use. It features selectable common mode coupling to at least one, 2 or 4 pairs with respect to the jumper configurations around the CDN, and it is combined with 40 ? in series having a coupling capacitor.
The brand new network includes a maximum surge test current of two kV having a maximum peak surge test current as high as 50 A along with a maximum residual current in the auxiliary equipment (AE) of just 65 V.
The unit includes a maximum operating speed of 1000 BaseT, maximum operating current of 100 VDC between pairs and maximum operating current of just one A that’s ranked for energy over Ethernet (PoE). Additional decoupling elements aren’t needed to safeguard the AE. The unit’s high decoupling offers the AE independent pulse shape for that EUT.
The brand new CDN HSS-2 weighs in at roughly 15 kg (33 pounds) and it is 200 mm (7.8-) wide, 200 mm (7.8-) high and 470 mm (18.5-) deep.
