On the hot, damp and almost foggy evening we found ourselves hungry as might be and wound up on Saray El Gezira Street. With a number of Earth-side motorboats to select from, i was attracted with a blue light and wandered lower towards the Blue Earth Boat.
Among the couple of restaurants we had not used yet was Il Ritrovo. Blue Earth itself claims that it’s a piano bar but and it’s also quite a large restaurant. Il Ritrovo also states specialize in Italian cuisine.
The restaurant is situated in the bow from the ship and for that reason is type of pyramid formed. You will find plenty of tables some with couches, some with chairs yet others with couches built-in the wall.
After ordering some drinks we required an optimum in the surprising, suspicious and sometimes freakish menu. The very first factor that caught our attention would be a dish known as the elephant ear (81LE). Yes, elephant ear. The outline fortunately told us it’s really veal. Other dishes around the so-known as Italian menu were shawerma and hawawshi (51LE), chicken pop corn wings (47LE) and a lot of dishes with offal meat. Alongside which was also a comprehensive sushi selection. Very Italian.
We took it for that endives salad with Roquefort (51LE) but regrettably it had not been available so rather we settled for that goat cheese salad (49LE). It had been rather small , presented in certain kind of a soup bowl. On the top were six crackers with goat cheese engrossed in honey and capped having a slice of olive. The dish designed a nice tasty snack but is not exactly a starter and a little costly for this type of small dish.
For the mains we’d have loved to test the steak al’ espresso (72LE) however this seemed to be not available, therefore we required the grilled tenderloin with pepper sauce (90LE) and also the grilled ocean bass (85LE). The ocean bass was a little of the miss. The seafood wasn’t seasoned well passing on a really salty taste. Also i was guaranteed associated lemon caper sauce around the menu however this was nowhere found. Because the staff seemed to be nowhere found we finished the seafood without sauce. The mashed taters quietly were nice but we’d doubts about its quality. We required the mushroom risotto (55LE) and were glad we did following the seafood debacle. The risotto might have completed with more bouillon to prevent dryness but was nonetheless very tasty and eager with organic mushrooms.
The background music within the restaurant is supplied with a self playing piano which we found rather frightening as you can see the piano secrets rising and lower on their own. Regardless of this, we’d generous portions of Grand Marquis wine (42LE) and spicy Virgin Mary’s (25LE) that was a pleasant method to fill up a reasonably average evening.
